COORENGEL-CALVAGRAC

DESIGN & DECORATION

After graduating with degrees in Art History and Law from the University of Leiden, Michael Coorengel left Holland to manage the launch of the Ralph Lauren Home Collection in Paris, France. After several years with Ralph Lauren, he was engaged as the Artistic Director of Groupe Holder, where he was the exclusive designer of the branding and packaging for Boulangerie Paul and Laduree. Drawing inspiration from historical concepts and landmarks, he conceptualized compelling visuals from store design to logo’s, which resulted in both brands evolving into two of the most prominent and recognizable design references in commercial branding in France. Jean-Pierre Calvagrac studied Law at the University of Lyon, and furthered his studies at the Camondo School of Design in Paris. After several different artistic endeavors, he was commissioned to design the visual displays for Laduree, under the artistic direction of Michael Coorengel. The design firm Coorengel & Calvagrac was founded in 1996 and has a diverse rage of individual and corporate clients in both interior design and commercial branding. Their work has been featured in leading design and decoration magazines internationally, and published in various design books, including: Architectural Digest France, Spain, Italy & Russia, House & Garden, Vogue and Tashen Books. Coorengel & Calvagrac was elected one of the 10 best designers in the world by House & Garden Magazine, and recognized as one of the 10 top design firms in the world by Architectural Digest. While their range is broad, spanning from classic to modern, they are experts in historical design.
